In order to prepare exact subject teachers to equip their students with competence Computational Thinking, Information Technology Study Program Faculty of Engineering (PSTI) held training Computational Thinking for teachers who teach exact science subjects in Banjarmasin City. This training is Community Service (PKM) as one of the tridharmas of higher education. This activity was carried out on Wednesday 05 August 2020 using the Google Meet Platform. The target and output of this activity is the establishment of collaboration between institutions and society, namely collaboration between PSTI and Banjarmasin middle and high school level schools in order to jointly advance the world of education in Indonesia, especially in Banjarmasin through Computational Thinking. Apart from that, the more specific outcome of this Computational Thinking training is that exact subject teachers play a more constructive role Computational Thinking For problem solving in each student so that it can direct students to have abilities problem solving better (PSTI).
Computational Thinking This is a solution method based on informatics techniques that is able to encourage students to think creatively and critically computational. Computational Thinking itself is a program promoted by Bebras Indonesia in collaboration with Google through the PANDAI movement with a target of 22,000 teachers and 2,000,000 students organized by Bebras throughout Indonesia, one of which is in South Kalimantan. Ir. Muhammad Alkaff, S.Kom, M.Kom., IPM as Coordinator of the Information Technology Study Program at the ULM Faculty of Engineering and Material Presenter said that this material is aimed at school teachers so that they can be better prepared to face future technological applications.
"So Computational Thinking "This needs to be socialized as a medium that should be mastered by school teachers across levels so that teachers, especially in South Kalimantan, are ready to pass on this learning to their school students," he said.
"With this training activity, we have taken the initiative to popularize the training, as a means with the ultimate goal of preparing prospective students to be able to compete in the global arena, adding that Kalimantan will become the capital in the future," he added.
The participants who registered were 86 exact subject teachers from various regions, not only South Kalimantan but also Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Java and Sulawesi. Participants were very enthusiastic about participating with many interactive questions from participants to resource persons.
"Alhamdulillah, the participants were very good and able to take part in the training, and judging from the number of registrants, it also indicates that many were enthusiastic about the training. Computational Thinking” he concluded.
