The Mining Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University held a Curriculum Development Workshop which was divided into 2 workshops. Coordinator of the Mining Engineering Study Program, Agus Triantoro, ST, MT, said that this activity was an important process in curriculum development.

"Through workshops we collect information, recommendations and evaluations from the community with the hope that the Mining Engineering Study Program curriculum will continue to follow developments in science and be in line with current trends in needs, especially projections for the next five years."

Head of the Curriculum Development Team, Eko Santoso, ST, MT, explained "The proposed 2020 curriculum refers to the National Higher Education Standards (SN-DIKTI), the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). The study materials have also met the minimum agreed upon in the Indonesian Mining Engineering Study Program Communication Forum. "Apart from that, the Independent Learning Program - Independent Campus is also accommodated."

The team invited 3 speakers at Workshop I on 18 August 2020. Ir. Wawong Dwi Ratminah, MT (Coordinator of the Mining Engineering Study Program, National Development University "Veteran" Yogyakarta) suggested that it is necessary to consider the placement plan for elective courses from semester 3 and the prerequisite courses. Dr. Eng. Ganda Marihot Simangunsong (Chair of the Mining Engineering Study Program, Bandung Institute of Technology) provided guidance to the team on how to determine the path to achieving each CPL study program, using assessment tools, and assign action plan in the process of developing sustainable curriculum quality. Hari Sutikno, SE, MS (Chair of the South Kalimantan Mining Engineering Heads Forum) stated that it is necessary to increase the duration of field work practice/thesis time in order to prepare student competencies needed by the world of work.

This event was attended by 86 participants consisting of lecturers from 13 Mining Engineering Study Programs in Indonesia, lecturers from other study programs, representatives of government institutions, and practitioners from the mining industry. The participants had the opportunity to discuss in direct dialogue and provide input to the team through evaluation surveys. Ir. Adip Mustofa, ST, MT, founding lecturer of the Mining Engineering Study Program and acting as moderator at Workshop I conveyed his conclusions and hopes, "All the input given by the speakers was very constructive and helped the team in improving the curriculum. "Hopefully the development of the 2020 curriculum will improve the quality of institutions, the quality of students and the quality of educators so that the Mining Engineering Study Program can make its best contribution to community development in the field of education."

Workshop II will be held Monday, August 24 2020, inviting speakers from the mining industry and the South Kalimantan Province Energy and Mineral Resources Service.
