Wasaka Team Car ULM is a Research Team consisting of students from the Engineering Faculty of Lambung Mangkurat University. Wasaka Team Car focuses on the field of energy efficient car research by designing, analyzing, manufacturing and developing energy efficient cars and electric cars. Apart from that, Wasaka Team Car is also active in participating in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East (SEM – APME) Competition, the Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE), and other competitions involving the development of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Energy cars.
With the motto "Waja Selamat Kaputing" which means whatever you face, never give up and have to fight until the end, this philosophy is the name and vision and mission of the Wasaka Team to continue to be enthusiastic about innovation in the development of research into energy-saving cars that are efficient and environmentally friendly with the hope of being able to achieve maximum results and can be applied in the future.
Wasaka Team Car was first formed in 2015 with the intention of taking part in the Energy Saving Car Competition at the Kanjuruhan Circuit, Malang, East Java, where Brawijaya University acted as host. At that time, the team led by several students from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program designed the Generation I Energy Saving Car, which was known by the name Proboscis Monkey Hamuk Vehicle V.01 ~ First Generation. Even though the Energy Efficient Car designed is the first generation and the first time to take part in the Energy Efficient Car Competition (KMHE), this car design was successful in winning the prize. The Best Design at the 2015 KMHE event which was held in Malang City. The presence of the Wasaka Team Car which developed it Proboscis Monkey Hamuk Vehicle V.02 then continued at the 2016 KMHE event which was held in the grounds of Prambanan Temple. Yogyakarta with host Gadjah Mada University.
Along the way, in 2017 Proboscis Monkey Hamuk Ver.1.0 had the opportunity to participate Shell Eco Marathon at Changi Singapore . This cannot be separated from the full support of the Chancellor of Lambung Mangkurat University at that time, Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi, MSi, MSc and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr-Ing Yulian Firmana Arifin, ST, MT. along with the ranks and Alumni Family Association (IKA-UNLAM). Besides that, the existence of PT. Surya Timur Sakti East Java (Yamaha) was also very helpful by donating 1 unit of ZupiterZ1 motorcycle.
Support and assistance from PT. Surya Timur Sakti East Java to the Wasaka team from the Engineering faculty at Lambung Mangkurat University then continued in 2018, where another motorbike was donated for research and preparation for the Energy Saving Car Competition. The handover of this motorbike was carried out at the Plaza of the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru. At the ceremony which was attended by the Chancellor of Lambung Mangkurat University, the Dean of FT ULM officially submitted a Proposal for the Development of the Engineering Techno Park (ETP) Area which was led by Nurhakim, MT who at that time was entrusted as Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs of FT ULM. In the area located to the west of the FT Banjarbaru campus, the Energy-Efficient Car Workshop and several other workshops will be developed which aim to provide opportunities for ULM Faculty of Engineering students to be creative and develop their innovations.
