Thursday, November 21, 2024, The Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University, held a disaster management simulation rapid fire response which was held at the Softball Field located in the southern part of the FT ULM Banjarbaru campus. This simulation is an annual routine activity, but in the last few years it has not been carried out due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The firefighting simulation was carried out in collaboration with the Banjarbaru City Government's Fire Department. 

Participants were given the opportunity to practice directly in various stages, with direct guidance and direction from the Head of UPT Damkar Kota Banjarbaru, Mr. Safrullah, S.Sos, M.Si. Participants were invited to practice various emergency response scenarios, such as fire handling, evacuation in disaster situations, use of light fire extinguishers (APAR) and use of traditional fire extinguishers (APAT). 

It was held simulation This aims to provide knowledge of the causes of fires and the precautions that need to be taken if a fire occurs. Through simulation This fire, it is hoped that it can be understood that disasters can never be predicted, and every evacuation effort aims to save lives, so that the Lecturers, Education Staff, Students and outsourcing support staff in the Faculty of Engineering, ULM have sufficient knowledge in anticipating the occurrence of fire disasters.

Dean of FT ULM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Iphan Fitrian Radam, ST., MT., IPU., said in his speech, “We hope that this simulation activity will not only provide theoretical knowledge, but also direct experience that can be applied in real emergency situations. Thus, all academicians in the FT ULM environment can be better prepared in facing potential fire hazards. This activity is also a commitment of the FT ULM leadership in creating a safe, healthy campus environment that complies with applicable disaster response standards.”
