The Banjarbaru Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) participated in a simulation of handling smoke disasters due to forest and land fires (karhutla) on the campus of the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru.

The activity, which was attended by several elements of student organizations (BEM, BLM, Hima and UKM), was carried out within the framework of the SCC organized by BEM FT UNLAM.

In this simulation, the Banjarbaru Search and Rescue Office acts as a resource person to evacuate people/individuals or groups who are in danger due to inhaling too much smoke caused by forest and land fires.

As is known, previously thousands of hectares of forest and land on Kalimantan Island burned every year, this was made worse by the fact that some of the land in South Kalimantan was also peat land which was not easily extinguished if extinguished with water.

In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr-Ing. Yulian F Arifin, ST, MT said that the Faculty of Engineering strongly supports this activity and has programmed this activity to be a routine agenda that will continue to be carried out to prepare human resources who are ready to face forest and land fires that often occur.
