COUNSELING GUIDANCE

Before 2013, guidance and counseling services were implemented without structure. In its implementation, guidance and counseling is handled directly by the Advisory Lecturer (academic guardian). However, in accordance with the direction of the Chancellor cq Assistant Chancellor III UNLAM, since 2013 Guidance and Counseling services have been carried out by the Faculty of Engineering B&K team. This team is chaired by the Assistant Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering assisted by personnel from the FT Student Affairs Subdivision. To improve Guidance and Counseling services, in October 2014 the Unlam Faculty of Engineering assigned 2 (two) lecturers to take part in B & K counselor training held by the Unlam Rectorate (Mrs. Ir. Retna Hapsari, MT and Mr. Dr. Mahmud, ST, MT) . After attending counselor training, the two lecturers above will be involved in Guidance & Counseling activities. The determination of the Guidance and Counseling Service Team is in accordance with the Decree of the Dean of the Unlam Faculty of Engineering number: 291/UN8.1.31/KM/2014 dated 10 December 2014.

INTERESTS & TALENTS (EXTRA-CULICULAR)

Student life at the Faculty of Engineering cannot be separated from organizational activities. In terms of student organizations, the Faculty of Engineering refers to the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 155 /U/1998 concerning General Guidelines for Student Organizations in Higher Education. The highest intra-campus student organizations at the Engineering Faculty level are DPM FT Unlam (formerly BLM) and BEM FT Unlam.

Apart from DPM FT and BEM FT, at the faculty level a Student Activity Unit (UKM) was formed which accommodates various activities in the fields of student interest and talent at the faculty level. Until 2013, 4 UKMs had been established in the Faculty of Engineering Unlam, namely UKM Mapala FT Unlam, UKM FKI Ash-Shirat, UKM ArtPedia and UKM ORBIT. In 2014, the establishment of UKM was being pioneered to accommodate students who have interests in the scientific field. This UKM was inaugurated at the end of 2015 with the name UKM Teknika Cendikia.

In addition to student development at the faculty level (in the form of UKM), at the Study Program level, student development is also carried out within the Study Program Student Association (Hima Prodi). Currently there are 6 Study Program level Student Associations under the guidance of the Faculty of Engineering, namely: Civil Engineering Student Association (HMS), Architecture Student Association (Himars), Mining Engineering Student Association (Himasapta), Chemical Engineering Student Association (Himatekim), Association Environmental Engineering Students (Himateklink), and the Mechanical Engineering Student Association (HMTM) and the Information Technology Student Association (HMTI).

In order to improve services for student organizations in carrying out student activities, in 2014 a Guide (Standard Operating Procedure) was prepared which contains Guidelines for Preparing Proposals and Accountability Reports for Student Organization Activities. This SOP was prepared by the Student Services SOP Preparation Team with Decree of the Dean of FT Unlam number: 292/UN8.1.31/KM/2014. This SOP has been socialized at the Annual Evaluation Meeting for Student Affairs which was attended by all representatives of the BEM-FT, DPM-FT, UKM and Study Program Student Associations within the Faculty of Engineering, Unlam.

  • Services for Interests and Talents in the Field of Natural Love

Student services in the field of Natural Love within the Unlam Faculty of Engineering are carried out through the development of UKM MAPALA Faculty of Engineering (MFT). This UKM is the oldest Student Activity Unit in the Faculty of Engineering, founded on 24 September 1981. In the context of organizational improvements, on 24 September 2013 a Decree from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Unlam, was issued Number: Kep.294/UN8.1.31/KM/2013 concerning Update on the Legality Document for the Establishment of the Student Activity Unit "Nature Lover Students, Faculty of Engineering".

  • Services for Interests and Talents in the Religious/Spiritual Sector

Student services in the field of Religious / Islamic Spirituality within the Unlam Faculty of Engineering are carried out through the development of UKM FKI As-sirath. This UKM is the second Student Activity Unit in the Faculty of Engineering, established on 28 September 1992. In the context of organizational improvements, on 24 September 2013 a Decree from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Unlam, was issued Number: Kep.294A/UN8.1.31/KM/2013 concerning Update on the Legality Document for the Establishment of the Student Activity Unit "Ash-Shirath Islamic Communication Forum, Faculty of Engineering".

  • Services for Interests and Talents in the Field of Arts

Student services in the field of arts within the Unlam Faculty of Engineering are carried out through the development of the Art UKM "ArtPedia" FT Unlam. UKM "ArtPedia" is a forum for fostering student activities at the Faculty of Engineering, Unlam in the Arts Sector, which was officially established at the same time as UKM ORBIT on June 15 2013 with the issuance of the Decree of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering No: Kep.178E/UN8.1.31/KM/2013. The issuance of the FT Dean's Decree was preceded by the Recommendation of the Assistant Dean III for Student Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Unlam number: 521A/UN8.1.31/KM/2013 dated 14 June 2013 concerning the Establishment of Student Activity Units for UKM "Orbit" and UKM "ArtPedia". At the beginning of its formation, ArtPedia UKM consisted of 4 (four) divisions, namely the Choir Division (VoER – Voice of Engineering Rangers), Public Speaking Division, Music Division and Photography Division. In line with developments, in addition to existing divisions, currently UKM ArtPedia also has Theatre, Dance and Caricature & Comic-Strip divisions.

  • Sports Interest and Talent Services

Student services in the field of sports within the Unlam Faculty of Engineering are carried out through the development of UKM Sports and Martial Arts Engineering (ORBIT). UKM "ORBIT" is a forum for developing student activities at the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University in the field of Sports and Martial Arts which was officially established on June 15 2013 which was inaugurated with the Decree of the Dean of FT Unlam No: Kep.178D/UN8.1.31/KM/2013. The issuance of the FT Dean's Decree was preceded by the Recommendation of the Assistant Dean III for Student Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Unlam number: 521A/UN8.1.31/KM/2013 dated 14 June 2013 concerning the Establishment of Student Activity Units for UKM "Orbit" and UKM "ArtPedia". UKM ORBIT consists of 6 (six) divisions, namely the Football Division, Futsal Division, Volleyball Division, Basketball Division, Badminton Division and Martial Arts Division.

  • Interest and Talent Services in the Field of Competition, Grants and Competencies

Talent interest services in the field of competitions, grants and competitions carried out by the Faculty of Engineering include: Student Creativity Program (PKM) which culminates in PIMNAS, Entrepreneurial Student Program (PMW), Village Development Grant Program (PHBD), and others. Student services in the fields of competition, grants and competencies within the Unlam Faculty of Engineering are carried out through the coaching of UKM Teknika Cendikia. UKM "TEKNIKA CENDIKIA" is the youngest UKM at FT Unlam, and is a forum for developing student activities at the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University in the Field of Competition, Grants and Competencies which was officially established on December 30 2015 which was inaugurated with the Decree of the Dean of FT Unlam No: Kep.584/UN8.1.31/KM/2015 . The issuance of the FT Dean's Decree was issued after a fairly long series of activities, starting with the initiation of the formation of UKM in the field of competition and competency by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and FT ULM Alumni at the 2015 FT Student Development Mid-Year Coordination Meeting on September 17 2015, Bidik Misi Student Development Program Unlam Faculty of Engineering 2015 on 19 November 2015, Internal Meeting of the Initiation/Establishment Committee of UKM in the field of Scientific Reasoning on 22 December 2015, until the publication of Recommendations for the Deputy Dean III for Student & Alumni Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Unlam number: 2037/UN8.1.31/KM/2015 date 28 December 2015 concerning the Establishment of the UKM Student Activity Unit "Technique Cendikia". UKM TEKNIKA CENDIKIA consists of 3 (three) divisions, namely the Research and Development Division, Human Resources Development Division, and Public Relations Division.

As for competitions that are directly related to the Study Program competition field, the Unlam Faculty of Engineering provides flexibility for the Study Program and the Study Program Student Association to take part in various events, such as:

  • Civil Engineering and HMS Study Program: Building Materials Innovation Competition, River Navigation Competition, etc
  • Architecture Study Program and HIMARS: Intaran House Design Competition, etc
  • Mining Engineering Study Program and HIMASAPTA: Indonesian Student Mining Competition (ISMC), South East Asian Mining Student Competition (SEASMC), Kalimantan Student Mining Competition (KSMC), etc.
  • Mechanical Engineering and HMTM Study Programs: Energy Saving Car Competition (KMHE), Indonesian Robot Competition (KRI), National Welding Competition, etc.
  • Chemical Engineering and HIMATEKKIM Study Program: Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI), etc

SOFTSKILLS COACHING

Soft-Skills development for Unlam Faculty of Engineering students is carried out in stages and continuously. P2B, Character Education, Pre-Primary level LKMM and Elementary level LKMM.

  • Study Preparation Program (P2B)

The Study Preparation Program is a campus introduction activity which is an effort to introduce new students to campus activities so that they will adapt more quickly to college life. The material presented in the introduction to campus life (Learning Preparation Program - P2B) in accordance with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 38/DIKTI/Kep/2000 concerning Arrangements for New Student Admission Activities in Higher Education is: Higher education in Indonesia, Academic activities in higher education, Introduction cultural values, scientific manners and ethics, student organizations and activities, student services and preparation for adjustment to college. Apart from that, in the P2B activities organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Unlam, there are several additional materials such as the Dangers of Drugs for National & State Life, Blood Donation, and Introduction to the Competition Grant Program in the field of Student Affairs.  

  • Character building

To provide ethical student behavior, the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University has established norms and ethics for students in interacting in the campus environment, both in academic and social activities which are regulated based on the Decree of the Chancellor of Lambung Mangkurat University Number Kep. 397/JO8/KM/2002 concerning General Guidelines for Attitudes and Behavior of Lambung Mangkurat University Students, and Unlam Chancellor's Decree Number Kep. 124/H8/KM/2008 concerning Academic Community Regulations. This regulation regulates the attitude of students as creatures of God, members of the national community, elements of the academic community, students, and as part of the living environment. Apart from that, students are also able to maintain their behavior, in the campus environment, lecture hall, in terms of clothing, dressing up, speaking, in social interactions, in organizing, in discussions, in being creative, and in dealings in the office. The process of socializing the General Guidelines for Student Attitudes and Behavior has been carried out since being accepted as a new student at the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University through the Learning Preparation Program (P2B) activities. From an early age, students are introduced to procedures for behaving as academics who uphold the values of honesty, truth and scientific norms. This socialization process is carried out through print media, electronic media, lectures and discussions. Those who violate campus life rules will be subject to strict sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations.

  • Student Management Skills Training (LKMM)

Basically, organizational and cadre skills training activities aim to ensure that students and alumni have technical abilities that are in line with the demands of society in the future. However, in its implementation, sometimes there are things that are not in accordance with the direction of the Student Development Pattern (Polbangmawa) issued by the Directorate General of Higher Education. For this reason, the Directorate General of Higher Education provides extracurricular training called Student Management Skills Training (LKMM). So that this effort can be carried out in a directed manner, the LKMM curriculum was prepared

Student Management Skills Training (LKMM) is a program or activity designed to provide attitudes, knowledge and organizational managerial skills for students, especially those who are active in organizations. With these skills, it is hoped that students and after graduating, will not only become authoritative leaders, but also have technical abilities that are in line with the demands of society in the future.

At FT Unlam, LKMM activities are carried out at 2 levels, namely Pre-Basic Level LKMM organized by the Study Program Student Association and Basic Level LKMM carried out by BEM-FT Unlam.

The aim of the Pre-Basic Level LKMM is to equip new students with basic skills in communicating, recognizing their potential, developing critical qualities and positioning themselves effectively in student organizations.

The aim of Basic Level LKMM is to equip students with the skills to organize student activities, good planning and systematics,

HEALTH SERVICES

Health services for students of the Faculty of Engineering and Lambung Mangkurat University are provided at UMC (Unlam Medical Center). 2 (two) campus locations, namely the Banjarmasin Campus and the Banjarbaru Campus. This health service takes place during working hours. Apart from regular health services, Unlam also provides services in the form of compensation for students who experience accidents, illness and death. Apart from that, in activities carried out on a mass scale, the Faculty of Engineering always collaborates with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Banjar Regency in on-site health services, in the form of assigning paramedics and ambulances to the Unlam Faculty of Engineering campus location.

INFORMATION & CAREER GUIDANCE

Information services and career guidance carried out by the Unlam Faculty of Engineering can be classified into 3 (three) groups, namely training programs (Development of Alumni Preparation for Entering the World of Work), campus recruitment programs (campus recruitment) and socialization of job vacancies.

The training program that is routinely carried out by the Unlam Faculty of Engineering is the "Development of Alumni Preparation for Entering the World of Work" program, this activity is an annual routine activity and is held in accordance with the RKA for student affairs (018) in collaboration with resource persons from industry and consultants.

Apart from carrying out recruitment programs and job vacancy services, which are carried out in coordination with the Assistant Dean III, the ULM Faculty of Engineering, through the Dean and Assistant Dean I, also facilitates the provision of recommendations for students who wish to carry out further studies at the strata-2 level.

The aim of the alumni tracking program is, among other things, to track the whereabouts of alumni and their work. Alumni tracking programs can also gather additional information regarding graduate satisfaction, user satisfaction, and can collect alumni potential.

Tracking alumni at the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University is carried out on various occasions and at various levels. At the university level, alumni tracking and customer satisfaction surveys are carried out by the Quality Assurance Agency (BPM) via the internet site www.bpm.ulm.ac.id. This tracer study activity was carried out in the context of institutional re-accreditation in 2014. At the Study Program level, tracer studies are carried out to meet the needs for preparing study program accreditation and in order to update the curriculum. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering is also carrying out tracking activities in order to rejuvenate the alumni database at the Faculty of Engineering level. All data obtained from the tracer study and user satisfaction survey were then compiled to obtain a complementary picture of alumni and users.

Compiling the alumni database is carried out in a multi-mode manner, such as giving questionnaires upon graduation and asking new graduates to fill out and return the questionnaires after they start working, graduates are tracked through interviews on the telephone, or contacted via e-mail.

Based on tracking data obtained from several faculties that have conducted tracer studies, information that can be obtained includes:

  2. Sector of the company where you work;
  3. First monthly income;
  4. Work experience after graduation;
  5. Motivation to work;
  6. Job satisfaction;
  7. Competencies that are useful in work;
  8. Match between work and education;
  9. Learning experiences in relation to work;

  11. Suggestions for improving learning.

The results of this alumni tracking will then be used as feedback (feedback) for institutions in improving the educational process and student development so that graduates are expected to better meet the qualifications required by industry.
